La maison Ferreira

We couldn’t talk about Montreal’s gastronomy scene without mentioning this Portuguese institution! A classic in the city for almost 20 years now, allying tradition and modernity to perfection. In the last few years the group has also open Taverne F in Quartier des spectacles (see our review in the gastronomy page) and Café Vasco Da Gama only steps away from the main restaurant of the house. Vasco Da Gama offers you a full catering service and store where you can shop anything from oil and vinegar to the official Ferreira table ware collection!

Chef Joao Dias is now the maître of creation to the delightful cuisine served at this elegant timeless restaurant. Not to worry, the best dishes are still on the menu and improved recipes have been changed for the better! You can fell the Mediterranean vibe just by the surroundings and reading the mouth-watering menu. A sunny day in Portugal seems only few bites away! Business lunch is a must here as well as for sharing a great evening. Lunch in solo is also a great idea, nothing wrong with spending a little «me time» by yourself. While having a special dinner experience at Ferreira feel free to order anything on the menu and you won’t be disappointed. Guidance from the team will help you make the perfect choice for your palate and taste. One of my many favorites include the grilled octopus, grilled just right and with the perfect texture.  Sea food and fresh fish dishes are a must and great for sharing. Everything thought down to the smallest details to provide a memorable culinary experience. The vibe represents the culture and values of the place. Elegant yet simple décor, people mingling about everything and anything and food sharing.  Managed by Carlos and daughter Sandra Ferreira, conviviality is the roots of this timeless gem in downtown Montreal.  Every time is like the first!
